CM: Federal government urged to prioritise continuous assistance to the people

KLANG, 11 Oct: The Federal government has been advised to focus efforts to improve the people’s welfare, especially involving direct assistance to the people in the Budget 2016 that will be tabled in Parliament.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that this is due to the economic slowdown and the weakening value of the ringgit that has caused the people’s lives, especially the low and middle income groups, to be increasingly under pressure.

“We hope that the national budget will focus of the welfare of the people of this country because of the higher cost of living and we cannot accommodate the prices of goods, the weakening value of the ringgit that is affecting the national economy.

“It is hoped that the federal government can formulate initiatives that can provide direct assistance ti the people and the federal government must implement an overall economic reform involving the principles of good governance because it can restore investor confidence in the economic system and the country,” said Mohamed Azmin.

The Gombak MP said this when speaking at the Phase 3C Pulau Indah Green Industrial Park And the Pulau Indah Food Station Launch And Sales Launch at Pulau Indah, Port Klang, yesterday.

In addition, Mohamed Azmin also hoped that the federal government can establish good cooperation with Selangor as the state is the largest contributor to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at 1/4 of the total GDP.

“Of course the federal government is responsible for assisting the development in Selangor and this cooperation must continue,” said Mohamed Azmin.
