MBSA to distribute 350 free helmets on 13 July

SHAH ALAM, 1 Jul: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) will distrbute 250 free helmets ahead of the upcoming Aidilfitri celebrations.

Deputy Director of the MBSA Department of Corporate and Community Development, Shahrin Ahmad, said that the program was implemented in conjunction with the Selamat Balik Kampung campaign held at the bus stop on Persiaran Jubli Perak, Section 18, here on 13 July.

“Intended as a reminder to the public to prioritise road safety, especially motorcyclists who often become victims of road accidents, particularly during the festive season.

“It is also to educate road users to ride carefully on the journey to their hometowns,” he said in a press statement.

Shahrin said that 300 adult helmets are the contribution of SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, while 30 children’s helmets are contributed by the Road Safety Department (JKJR).

“The concept is to change old helmets that do not meet safety requirements.

“It is also to ensure that pillion riders use helmets that are certified safe according to set standards and safety features,” he said.
