Friday Sermon: Make an honest living, avoid corruption & fraud

SHAH ALAM, 1 May: Friday sermons across Selangor today reminded Muslims to make an honest living because it is the key to a pious community.

The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) sermon text titled “Finding Halal Income” reminded workers to not be involved in corruption, fraud or cheating.

It stated that an illegal source of income will destabilise the family and community system.

“When children and families are given illegal sources of income, there are chances that social ills like divorce, murder, abuse, infidelity, drug addiction, vandalism, racing, adultery and nudity will be a direct result from illegal provision.

“Therefore, any income from work must be lawful acquisition and its blessing secured,” the sermon text was taken in conjunction with the May 1 Labour Day.

The sermon text also reminded employers to give employees their salaries on time.

“Procrastinating, especially not paying workers’ wages is illegal. This act is an act of wrongdoing and violation of the signed contract between employer and employee,” taken from the sermon text.
