49 NGO-i organisations receive RM960,000 aid

SHAH ALAM, 13 May: 49 Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGO-i) registered under the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) received aid amounting to RM960,000.

It aims to strengthen the missionary movement and charity homes through various activities and programmes carried out.

The MAIS NGO-i Coordinating Committee Chairman, Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan, said that the assistance if not only from a financial standpoint, but also includes advice and guidance to ensure the smooth running of the organisations.

“This contribution if not for the purpose of strengthening the management or administration, but to mobilise activities or programmes that should be carried out in line with the goals and vision of each organisation.

“My hope is that this contribution given will be used as best possible to ensure that the Muslim community in Selangor is protected and Islam will grow as best possible,” he said.

He said this during Phase One of the Fund Contribution Presentation Ceremony at the Selangor Syariah Judiciary Department Congress Hall.

The contribution used the funds from the Al-Riqab, Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), and is expected to enter into the second phase in July 2015.

Among the organisations that received the donation was the Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM), the Malaysian Muslim Association, University of Malaya Medical Centre Friends Organisation and the Selangor Mosque Youth Association.
