Exco: RM12 million to upgrade village roads across Selangor

AMPANG, 26 May: The Selangor government has approved the RM12 million allocation to upgrade village roads across the state, said the Exco for Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs & Heritage, Rural Development and Traditional Villages, Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi.

He said that the allocation will be increased based on needs from time to time and the amount does not include roads under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris).

“We have passed the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) distribution state involving two districts to be upgraded.

“We are in the effort of passing all districts before June. Although I think that RM12 million is not too much, we will see the results after this to be considered in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) for development.

“It involves the infrastructure of village roads, drains, street lights, bridged and other facilities because a high cost is involved,” he said.

Dr Ahmad Yunus said this after officiating the closing ceremony for Series 4/2015 of the Management and Leadership Course for Selangor Village Leaders at the De Palma Hotel today.

He said that the approval includes village roads located on private land but involves public interest.

“We will upgrade these roads, provided we have written permission from the landowners,” he said.
