Ministry should act immediately in overcoming flash flooding at SJK (C) Lick Hung

SHAH ALAM, 15 Apr: The Subang Jaya Assemblyman, Hannah Yeoh, urged the Petaling Department of Education and the Selangor State Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to take immediate action on the flash flooding in SJK (C) Lick Hung near here.

Hannah said that letters were sent on April 6 and 8, but she has not received any response so far.

“Floods a high as 63.4 metres that happen in the school area are worrying because water levels are at a dangerous level if it exceeds 50 metres,” she said.

Hannah and the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ), in collaboration with the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) have identified the cause of the flooding and hopes that the ministry will visit the site.

“One of the causes if the capacity and design of the internal drainage system, causing the water level to be rather high. In addition, the inside area of the school is also lower than the outside.

“I urge the ministry to cooperate as soon as possible because student safety should be prioritised, especially if flash flooding happens during the school session,” she said.
