Contractor splashed smelly garbage water ‘caught’ by Exco

PANDAN, 15 Apr: The irresponsible action of the driver of a garbage collection truck who arbitrarily disposed garbage water in a residential area was finally caught yesterday.

The incident at Taman Chempaka was discovered by the Selangor State Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, who happened to be not far from the scene.

Iskandar said that he was looking at some areas to be turned into new futsal courts while examining the state of garbage collection in the area.

“I promised during a gotong-royong session at Jalan Pandan Indah 1 that I will personally monitor the waste problem in Chempaka.

“This evening (yesterday), I saw a garbage truck throwing garbage water by compressing garbage in front of someone’s house.

“The case happened near the An Nur Surau, Taman Chempaka. I will make a report to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ),” said Iskandar to Selangor Kini.

Iskandar explained that the driver of the truck caused the terrible stench of garbage to a point of causing discomfort among the residents.

Iskandar explained that the contractor concerned can be fined or have their contract terminated.

“They should throw the waste water at the waste disposal area and not arbitrarily compressing everywhere.

“Their fees may be deducted as a penalty and if their number of violations reaches a certain limit, their contract may be terminated,” added Iskandar.

Iskandar urged local authorities to monitor the work of waste collection contractors in their respective areas to ensure that such an incident does not take place.
