CM: Bumiputera developers asked to cooperate to build Selangorku Homes

KLANG, 18 Apr: Bumiputera property developers have been to work with the state government to develop Selangorku Homes projects after the courageous move of several private parties previously.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government has plans to develop old Malay reserve land that have been abandoned so that it can be utilised and the value of the property will increase according to the market.

“I suggest for Bumiputera developers to be involved directly in taking up the state government’s policy to jointly develop the welfare of the people and Selangor. We are aware of the demand for affordable housing in the Klang Valley is on the rise.

“We will identify Malay reserve land owned by the state government with the potential to develop affordable housing, thus increasing the value of properties that have been abandoned for centuries,” he said during the Karya Residensi ground-breaking ceremony today.

Mohamed Azmin said that the target to build 15,000 affordable housing units can be accomplished immediately with the participation of many property developers and 7,089 affordable housing units have been designed for three months until now.

Among the developers involved in the development of affordable housing are Sime Darby Property, IJM Land and WCT Holdings Berhad.

In relation to that, Mohamed Azmin said that developers responsible for building affordable homes should immediately complete the project according to the prescribed time.

“Developers also need to be creative in formulating the development plan, including thinking about facilities and traffic flow to facilitate residents,” he said.
