MBPJ’s efforts to tackle illegal advertising should be emulated

PETALING JAYA, 21 Apr: It is hoped that the determination of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to take down illegal ads will be maintained and emulated by other local authorities.

Entrepreneur, Jamal Affendi Jamaludin, 34, said that MBPJ’s actions of being alert in enforcement activities and to not compromise on the issue of illegal advertising should be praised so that illegal ads can be eradicated.

“MBPJ is ‘evil’. They take down ads just as soon as it is up.

“This is good because it shows that they are performing their duties well,” he told Selangor Kini.

Meanwhile, shoemaker Hamdi Shafie, 35, said that MBPJ’s actions are right in protecting the safety and welfare of the public.

“Sometimes when there are strong winds, bunting-type ads can fly and endanger motorcyclists.

“Illegal ads do not only cause losses to local authorities, but also contribute to waste,” he said, admitting that he took down his own illegal ads.

This morning, MBPJ carried out operations to take down illegal ads around The Strand and Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara.
