SHAH ALAM, 17 Apr: The actions of a housing development nearby that broke a septic tank caused the residents of Taman Sekamat to face stench every day.
What’s more disgusting is that waste filled their toilets as it failed to be channelled to the tank.
It is understood that the developers of the three-storey houses broke the septic tank to make way for the construction of the houses involved.
The Deputy Chairman of the Taman Sekamat Residents’ Committee, Ismail Kamari, said that the problem has been ongoing for six months and has caused outrage among the residents.
He said sewage also fills the drains at their homes.
“This problem has been ongoing for six months. Not just the smell, but waste is backing up and entering our houses because the septic tank was broken,” he told Selangor Kini as we participated in a visit by the Kajang Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to the area.
Meanwhile, a resident who only wanted to be known as Pak Wan Teh, informed that the developer was rude when moving headstones at the Muslim cemetery which is located next to the project site.
He said that this was done for the construction of the access road to residential project in the area.
“It is a sensitive issue involving Muslims. The developer should have obtained permission if they wanted to move it,” he said.
Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) member Lee Learn Eng said that MPKj will hold a meeting with the Technical Department together with the residents to solve the problem in the near future.
He said that MPKj is also reviewing the Planning Permission (PP) and finding solutions.
