10 areas of the Selangor Youth Policy to establish the younger generation

SHAH ALAM, 12 Apr: In line with the re-branding of the Exco for Youth Development and Sports for the younger generation, the state government today launched the Selangor Youth Policy that covers 10 priority areas.

The Exco for Youth Development and Sports, Amirudin Shari, said that the policy was drafted in collaboration with researchers from the Social Science Research Institute, Putra University of Malaysia (UPM), to be used by youth mobilisers (PeBT).

“The word ‘youth’ has been absorbed by old traditions, while the word ‘young generation’ or ‘young people’ has become the new wave.

“This is a new element that the Chief Minister perhaps jokingly said that if we pursue young generation development while maintaining youth development, the Exco which I has entrusted will remain ‘lame’

“We do not want to change the label or this brand by only re-branding, but we will provide it with the Selangor State Young Generation Policy.

He said this when speaking at the Selangor Youth Policy and Selangor Youth Marriage Incentive Website launch at the Silver Jubilee Hall at the SUK Building today.

The 10 fields are education and skills training, entrepreneurship and employment, leadership and organisation, information technology and communication, community, networking and volunteerism, arts and culture, welfare and health, sports and fitness, religion and spirituality, as well as internationalisation.

Amirudin added that the 10 fields are in addition to the six programmes outlined previously.
