CM: A highway is not the sole solution to traffic congestion problems

SHAH ALAM, 17 Mar: The state government will meet with the Ministry of Public Works to discuss the issue of public infrastructure development this week.

The Chief Minster, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the discussion was proposed by the Federal Government through a letter after the cancellation of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (KIDEX).

“The letter stated that the central government wished to discuss public transport as a whole, not the highway.

“I have agreed to the meeting. I will announced the date and time,” he told reporters.

At the same time, Mohamed Azmin said that construction of a highway is not the sole solution to traffic problems.

“The authorities such as the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) needs to be educated about this, not necessary a highway.

“We should develop infrastructure that can move a lot of people like the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT),” he said.
