Capacity of 5 dams over 87%

SHAH ALAM, 3 Mar: Five dams exceed the capacity of 87 percent based on monitoring by the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) at 8.00 am, March 3, with three being below this capacity.

The Batu Reservoir recorded a capacity of 89.79 percent and the Klang Gates at 87.69 percent.

In addition, the Langat River Dam is at 95.49 percent, Sungai Semenyih Dam at 95.18 percent and the Tasik Subang dam is at 97.82 percent.

The three dams that are under 87 percent are the Sg Labu Reservoir (ORS), at a capacity of 74.44 percent, the Sungai Selangor Dam that is at a capacity of 75.98 percent and the Sungai Tinggi Dam, at a capacity of 69.39 percent.

Prior to this, the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, assured that there will not be water rationing due to the hot weather this time because some early measures have been taken with early cloud seeding, continuous monitoring in catchment areas and alternative water sources to increase reservoir levels.
