Syabas: Water disruption will be fully recovered tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, 4 Mar: The water disruption in Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang due to the contamination of raw water at the Sungai Semenyih Water Treatment Plant is expected to be fully recovered tomorrow.

The Selangor Water Supply Company Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said that the water supply in another province that is affected, Hulu Langat, is expected to recover fully on Friday.

Konsortium Abass Sdn Bhd has been conducting water treatment operations since 1 am until 2 pm today.

More than 77 percent of the areas affected in Petaling, Kuala Langat and Sepang have fully recovered while in Hulu Langat, 45 percent of the areas have recovered.

“To minimise inconvenience of consumers in areas that have not fully recovered, Syabas will continue to provide emergency water supply through 49 tankers that have been deployed since the occurrence of this unscheduled water supply disruption,” said the statement.

He said that priority of this emergency water supply is given to emergencies such as deaths and weddings, in addition to hospitals, dialysis centres and welfare homes.
