Court decides to only pay RM120,000 to residents who oppose Datum Jelatek

SHAH ALAM, 24 Feb: The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), through its subsidiary company Datum Corporation International, is offering the highest price to the owners of four blocks of flats and shops to make way for the Datum Jelatek project.

The PKNS General Manager, Azlan Md Alifiah, said that it was evident when 14 out of the 192 residents who were not satisfied by the offer took the issue to court and only received RM120,000, as decided at the end of 2013.

“We have invested about Rm130 million to Rm150 million. In terms of compensation alone, we have already paid RM25 million. Everyone has received their compensation, including those who took Datum Corp to court.

“In fact, professional appraisers valued the houses at only RM100,000 for houses and shops (RM130,000). But we paid RM250,000 to RM300,000 for houses and RM450,000 to RM500,000 for shop lots.

“When they took Datum Corp or PKNS to court, the results were that they would only receive a compensation of RM120,000. This amount is lower than what we previously offered them,” he told Selangor Kini at the PKNS headquarters yesterday.

Meanwhile, the owners of shop lots with an area of 550 square feet received a compensation of RM450,000 and RM550,000 for 705 square feet.
