KUALA SELANGOR, 15 Feb: With the depreciation of the Ringgit, it is not the time to travel overseas; instead local residents are asked to travel within the country to help boost economic growth.
The Selangor Exco for Tourism, Consumer Affairs and Environment, Elizabeth Wong, invited local residents to make Selangor their tourist destination.
This is because Selangor has various tourist locations that are unique and worth a visit with the organisation of major events that are included in the Visit Selangor Year 2015.
“With the value of the Ringgit dropping, it is not suitable for local residents to travel out of the country. So, we are encouraging them to travel within the country, Selangor in particular.
“Covering the (subject of) eco-tourism, sports and heritage, Selangor is to organise 27 major events in the state’s tourism calendar,” she said.
Elizabeth said this when met by reporters at the Visit Selangor Year 2015 Launching Ceremony for the District of Kuala Selangor at Padang Pekan Lama today.
Also present was the Yang DiPertua of the Kuala Selangor District Council (MDKS), Noraini Roslan, and the General Manager of Tourism Selangor, Noorul Ashikin Mohd Din.
