Kidex: The people agree with cancellation, increase free buses

SHAH ALAM, 17 Feb: The people welcomed the decision by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to cancel the Kidex project following the failure by the developer to comply with the prescribed conditions.

Most of them said that the state government remained firm when requiring for highways in Selangor to be beneficial to users and the people.

For Hafez Mat Soom, 52, the Kidex funds may be used as best possible by improving the roads in Selangor, especially in Shah Alam, because it is a focus area of people from within and abroad.

“The Kidex provisions would be best focused on road safety, especially for motorcyclists.

“What is more important is the comfort and benefits to the residents. This must be prioritised,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mohd Salem Sherdin, 39, said that the provisions to increase free bus services in every district would be of more benefit to the local residents compared to the highway project.

“With the free bus service, we can reduce traffic congestion and the use of vehicles on the road.

“In addition, we can save the cost of fuel given that the country’s economy is not very good,” he said.
