Unisel students visit Kelantan for the post-flood cleaning operation

SHAH ALAM, 16 Jan: About 36 staff of the Exco for Housing, Building Management and Urban Living, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, and students from the University of Selangor (Unisel) will be departing for Kelantan for the Volunteer Mission for the post-flood cleaning, starting tonight.

The Unisel Corporate Communications Chief, Hasril Abu Hassan, said that the volunteers will leave at 11 pm tonight and the Flag Off will be executed by Iskandar at the Gombak Petronas station.

He said that the mission, named Ops Cuci, will begin tomorrow (Saturday) at Kelaboran and end on January 19 (Monday).

“This group of volunteers received cooperation from the Kelantan Chief Minister’s Office. Ops Cuci will be carried out five times at five districts in Kelantan.

“There are a total of 12 staff members from the Housing Exco and 36 students from Unisel,” he told Selangor Kini.

He said that the Vice Chancellor of Unisel, Prof Anuar Ahmad, will also be involved in the mission until Saturday.

Last week, over 13 students from Unisel departed for Sungai Gau, Temerloh Pahang, for the same mission.

Prior to this, Unisel also distributed aid consisting of basic necessities to be channelled to ease the burden of flood victims in three districts in Terengganu.

The aid was sent by lorries to Kemaman, Kuala Berang and Hulu Terengganu, accompanied by 48 Unisel employees consisting of staff and lecturers.

The items consisted of food, drinks, sanitary napkins, diapers, milk, clothes and water pressure jets, as well as sets of generators, collected since December 26.

Aid centres have been opened at both campuses in Shah Alam and Bestari Jaya, which has been flooded by people wanting to donate until yesterday.
