KUALA KANGSAR, 19 Jan: Almost 700 flood victims from three villages in Perak received post-flood aid from the Selangor government.
The aid consisted of a complete set of school uniforms, stoves, gas tanks, food items and cash, and was presented in the visit mission of the Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to several areas hit by the disaster yesterday.
In addition to delivering assistance in the form of goods, the Selangor government delegation also helped residents clean their homes, especially the elderly and those with disabilities.
Mohamed Azmin said that the Selangor government spent over RM200,000 to finance assistance for the flood victims.
“Previously, we gave a humanitarian aid of RM100,000 to the Perak government. I personally contacted Datuk Seri Zamri and he expressed his thanks.
“I estimate, for this programme alone, we have allocated over RM200,000, including additional equipment based on feedback during my house-to-house visit just now,” said Mohamed Azmin.
Among the additional items were sewing machines for the needs of a family to earn their living after the flood.
Yesterday, Mohamed Azmin, the Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Assemblymen, the Selangor Humanitarian Aid Mission Organisation (PANTAS) and local leaders visited three sites to present assistance in the post-flood aid programme in villages in the surrounding areas.
These villages include Kampung Senggang, Kampung Rimba Raja, Kampung Kuala Parit, Kampung Pasir Putih and several other villages in Kampung Gajah and Lampor Kanan.
