SHAH ALAM, 21 Jan: The Selangor Water Supply Company (SYABAS) should expedite the repair of damaged pipes, which is expected to take 36 hours, to not burden approximately 40,000 users.
The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that he wants SYABAS to keep adequate stock, such as high-powered valves, to avoid delays in maintenance work.
“I made a surprise visit to the location of the distribution pipe from the Semenyih Water Treatment Plant to Bukit Mahkota, which was broken.
“I asked SYABAS to immediately fix it. I went to Jenderam to look at the damages of the distribution pipe valve, which supplies clean water to Bukit Mahkota,” Mohamed Azmin wrote on Facebook.
He said that he was monitoring the reparation by SYABAS so that it fulfilled the working schedule set and does not burden users.
A total of 56,884 houses in Hulu Langat and Sepang will experience water supply disruptions for 36 house, starting 8pm (January 21) 8am (January 23) this Friday due to emergency work carried out to repair the broken pipe.
The main pile that broke gets treated water from the Semenyih Water Treatment Plant which is being operated by Konsortium ABASS Sdn Bhd.
A total of 44,661 homes from 54 areas in Hulu Langat will face disruptions, including Section 6, Bandar Baru Bangi; Bandar Sri Putra, Bangi; Taman Impian Putra; Taman Bangi Villa; Taman Bangi Indah; Bandar Bukit Mahkota, Pekan Bangi Lama, Desa Mahkota Bangi; Mutiara Bangi and Taman Jernang Jaya.
Meanwhile, the region of Sepang involves 12,223 homes from 15 areas, including Taman Warisan Bestari; Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi; Taman Kenanga; Kota Warisan; Taman Bunga Raya, Taman Mawar (1,2, Perdana, Emas Villa); Taman Dahlia; Taman Seroja; Taman Ixora; Kampung Geching Hulu; Desa Salak Permai, Taman Anggerik; Jenderam Hilir and Sungai Buah.
