Set up a special committee to address the economic crisis

SHAH ALAM, 21 Jan: The federal government should not be arrogant and should establish a special committee in addressing the economic crisis following the falling oil prices and the value of the ringgit.

The Selangor PAS Commissioner, Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad, said that the committee should be composed of both, government and opposition, as well as experts, academics and the people.

He said that the federal government should learn to respect their views and not just from Barisan Nasional (BN).

“The opposition also wants the best for the country.

“The government must also recognise that they are dealing with a crisis and to not deny it,” he said in a statement.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, announced the adjustment of the Budget 2015 to address the current economic changes.

He also targeted a deficit of 3.2 percent compared to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Najib, in his announcement, said that Malaysia cannot face the economic crisis and the situation this time cannot be likened to the crisis in 1997 and 1998.
