WHAT IS THE CASE? Kampung Sungai Salak flooding problem to be taken before the Exco

GOMBAK, 14 Jan: The mudslide problem in Kampung Sungai Salak in Batu 10, which has been happening for over 10 years, will be extended to the State Executive Council (MMKN) for further action.

The Gombak Setia Assemblyman, Hasbullah Ridzwan, said that he is actively seeking a solution for the problem as there are difficulties in building a drainage system along the road in the area.

He said that this is because the status of the land which the people live on is private and they require permission from the owner before infrastructural work can be carried out.

“We hate to understand the situation that the status of the land which they are living on is private on a large grant, so when this situation happens, there will certainly be difficulties at the state government level to carry out infrastructural work that allows the flood situation to be overcome.

“However, we are finding ways at the constituency level to see if there is space for us to ask them to build a drain, which can be carried out with the provisions we have,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Meanwhile, when commenting on the residents’ desire for the state government to maintain the imperfect road in the village, Hasbullah said that some studies have to be carried out before any action can be taken.

He said that because most of the land in the area is privately owned, the state government must resolve the status of the road to allow for it to be fully maintained.

“If the land or road is privately owned, then it is not under the state government, following the correct specifications.

“We want to resolve the status of the privately-owned land first to allow it to be maintained by the state government,” he said.
