Citizens of Sungai Burong want BN to help PR foster healthy politics

KUALA SELANGOR, 13 Dec: The residents of Sungai Burong hope for a more mature representative and want to cooperate in promoting democracy and the check and balance in Selangor.

Hamidon Salim, 45, expressed sorrow over the actions of Assemblyman Shamsudin Lias who resigned as the Opposition Leader recently. He stressed that the actions of his representative makes it hard to instill healthy politics in Selangor.

“Hopefully the Selangor opposition will rethink and act more maturely in politics,” he told Selangor Kini.

Early last week, Shamsudin resigned as the Opposition Leader and returned the official car and other facilities.

This move was following his refusal to accept the offer to be the Chairman of the Selangor Public Accounts Committee (PAC), which must be filled by him as the Opposition Leader.

Esa Ramli, 51, from Parit 4, is of the opinion that the elected representative was seemingly forced to not cooperate with the Umno-BN top leaders.

“Who does not want all the facilities, allocation, the position, but it all involves political mileage, so he had to sacrifice.

“They (Umno-BN) are worried that if they receive it, the opposition in other states that they control will have to be given similar privileges and recognition, and if they do not accept, other effects will arise,” he said.
