KUALA SELANGOR, 19 Dec: The Selangor government will expedite the approval to use idle land belonging to the state for the development of the livestock sector, especially for the youth.
The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin, said that the state government will work with the Livestock Entrepreneurs Academy, MJ Fatonah Sdn Bhd, in effort to produce more livestock entrepreneurs among the youth of Selangor.
“Many youths today have no jobs. I asked the Agro-Based Industries Exco, Zaidy Abdul Talib, to review and select youth participants from rural areas to be trained at this academy.
“The state government will always support this pure endeavour, including assistance and provisions, to make this dream a success,” he said when visiting the MJ Fatonah Farm in Kampung Teluk Penyamun during a field visit to the district of Kuala Selangor today.
The event was also attended by Zaidy and the Kuala Selangor District Council Yang DiPertya, Noraini Roslan.
MJ Fatonah is a livestock entrepreneur academy recognised by the Malaysian Veterinary Services Department as a husbandry training provider.
The courses are conducted in the form of hands-on with greater concentration on practical training in the farm (70%) compared to theory (30%).
Until now, MJ Fatonah has successfully trained 2,650 participants from across Malaysia and 70 percent of them are now known as livestock entrepreneurs with an income of over RM3,000 per month, in addition to earning a lot of success at the state and nation levels.
The academy was established by a couple who were crowned as the winners of the Prime Minister’s Special Award 2014 in MAHA 2014, Serdang, recently.
“I met with MJ Fatonah in MAHA recently. I was impressed and amazed on how the greatness of a woman and her husband were able to ensure the success of such an effort.
“If MJ Fatonah can build and develop such an effort, the state government, through the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS), will help develop the efforts of breeders,” he said.
Mohamed Azmin said that the effort is in preparation to meet the nation’s economic challenges that have been predicted to be rather dim die to the global economy in 2015.
He added that the issue of poverty cannot be solved with financial assistance like the BR1M alone, but the target group needs to be equipped with training and skills.
“The MJ Fatonah Academy has proved that through knowledge, training and skills, participants can be independent with attractive incomes.
“Therefore, I want to take this opportunity for the state government to be directly involved by sending as many Selangor youths as possible to undergo training,” he said.
During the visit, Mohamed Azmin also presented the Selangor Perangsang Entrepreneur Stimulus Assistance to 30 participants of the MJ Fatonah Livestock Academy worth RM223,800, including equipment, a breeding home and fodder.
