Selangor to build more affordable housing in 2015

HULU LANGAT, 15 Nov: The state government will continue its commitment to build more affordable housing in Selangor.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the intention is in line with the aspirations of Pakatan Rakyat (PR), which has always upheld policies that care about the people.

He said apart from education, the people’s housing construction scheme will also be given special attention in the Selangor Budget 2015 which will be tabled on November 24.

“We are not just launching a housing project but to complete it withe State Government subsidiary companies like the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to give a subsidy of up to RM12 million this time.

“This is different from the Federal Government which announced 80,000 affordable homes, but until now, there is none because of the high costs.

“We have excess land where we will redevelop for the people of Selangor and not to be explored or destroyed,” he said.

He said this at the Damai Residency PKNS Selangorku Dream Apartment Buyers’ Celebration in Section 3 Tambahan, Bandar Baru Bangi, this morning.

Also present was the Exco for Housing Iskandar Abdul Samad; the General Manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), Azlan Md Alifiah and the State Financial Officer, Datuk Nordin Sulaiman.

Damai Residency is the first PKNS Selangorku affordable housing with 124 units offered, including four special units for people with disabilities (PWD).

At the same time, Mohamed Azmin reminded buyers to take good care of the houses offered.

“We hope for cooperation to pay maintenance fees in order to ensure the cleanliness and safety of our homes.

“Hopefully, you do not sell the units offered because it is not easy to get property in strategic areas like this at a price that is quite special,” he said.

The Damai Residency apartment is offered at a price as low as RM60,000 to RM90,000 only compared to the value of RM250,000 to RM300,000.
