SHAH ALAM, 15 Dec: In the past 50 years of its existence, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) created 11 new growth centres in planning development across Selangor.
Its General Manager, Azlan Md Alifiah, said that so far, PKNS has built 156,802 housing units consisting of 37 percent of low-cost types, 47 percent (medium cost) and 16 percent (high cost).
“Since the establishment of PKNS on August 1, 1964, PKNS has been active in planning the development of Selangor and generation the socio-economy of the people,” he said during a speech at the Selangor State Government Departments Monthly Assembly today.
He said that the 11 new growth centres are the open cities of Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Kelana Jaya, Kota Damansara, Ampang Hulu Kelang, Bandar Baru Bangi, Bandar Sultan Suleiman, the Selangor Science Park 2 (SSP2), Antara Gapi, Bernam Jaya and Kota Puteri.
He said that currently PKNS is planning to boost growth in Kota Puteri with an area of 2,000 acres and the SSP2 (1,300 acres) as the focus areas outside the Klang Valley.
“PKNS has plans to expand the construction of the affordable housing projects with PKNS identifying several locations to be developed for a period of five years, until 2019.
“Among the locations are Gombak, Kota Puteri, Antara Gapi, SSP2 and Bernam Jaya,” he said.
Azlan said that PKNS also will continue the concept of Ehsan and Kasih PKNS (PKNS Excellence and Love) in entrepreneur development programmes and its corporate responsibility programmes.
“From last January to November, PKNS spent RM2.1 million for social and community programmes, not including contributions from the state government,” he said.
