Selangor willing to cooperate to improve the agricultural sector with the central government

SERDANG, 22 Nov: The Selangor government is ready to cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-based Industries to ensure that the agricultural sector in the state thrives.

The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state government can help farmers in the state to increase their income through this method.

“The organisation of this programme is a good effort to promote agricultural products with new technologies that can generate income for farmers, ranchers and fishermen. Selangor plays an important role even though we are an industrialised state, but we will not put the agricultural sector aside.

“We will provide support to ensure the success of such efforts in the future,” he said when met by Selangor Kini after visiting the Selangor State Pavilion House at the Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro Tourism Malaysia Expo (MAHA 2014) today.

The expo which involved 1,000 agrofood, horticulture and agro tourism industry this time also attracted the participation of foreign manufacturers.

The bi-annual expo, themed ‘Agrotechnology – Catalyst of Transformation’, is taking place from November 20 to 30.

The exhibition is expected to attract 3.5 million visitors, with a total of RM20 in estimated returns.

Among the things expected to attract visitors to the expo this time is the livestock exhibition, popular food in the state and Malaysia, as well as agricultural products.

In addition, various interesting contests are also being held and enlivened by the presence of popular artists such as Datuk Rosyam Noor and Fizo Omar.
