Jom Shopping vouchers for 17,300 people in conjunction with Deepavali

SHAH ALAM, 10 Sept: The Selangor Government will be distributing Jom Shopping vouchers to 17,300 recipients from the Indian community in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration which will take place in October.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Youth and Sports, Infrastructure and Public Amenities, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, said that the programme is a continuation of programmes that were previously organised each time there is a festive season.

He said that the vouchers will be distributed to the recipients at every DUN based on the categories specified.

“If the number of voters is less than 10,000, we will give 300 vouchers for each DUN while 100 more vouchers will be made for areas with over 10,000 to 15,000 voters.

“From the total, 52 DUNs will receive 300 vouchers, three DUNs will receive 4000 vouchers while only one DUN will receive 500 vouchers, which is Seri Andalas,” he said during a press conference after the Executive Council meeting today.

He said that the number of vouchers this year has also increased compared to 13,900 recipients last year.

In the meantime, he also announced that the operation limit for car wash centres that was previously enforced has been terminated immediately.

“The time limit for car wash centres have been terminated because Selangor is currently having limited source of raw water, but we decided for it to be discontinued and they can continue operations as usual,” he said.
