The people should take advantage of MES welfare programmes

KLANG, 2 Nov: The wife of the Chief Minister, Shamsidar Taharin, has asked the people, especially the women, to take advantage of various programmes under the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda provided by the state government.

She said among the programmes offered is the free health screenings for less fortunate individuals to receive treatment from specialists.

“The Selangor government under Pakatan Rakyat (PR) offers free health screenings where they only need to fill out a form to receive treatment.

“Use this opportunity as best possible because programmes provided are to help the people,” she said during the Deepavali Contributions Presentation Ceremony organised by the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) at Bukit Tinggi this morning.

In the meantime, she also brought up the intention to implement the medical visitation programme with the Health Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi, to enable them to go and provide health treatment to bedridden patients.

She said that the programme is still in discussion and will be implemented soon to ensure that the people of Selangor receive the best services.

“We will go to certain areas to take medication and equipment to conduct health screenings as many among us are bedridden.

“I hope that this will help reduce the burden of those in need,” she added.

At the event, Shamsidar also presented assistance hampers and cash of RM100 each to 30 women who mostly consisted of single mothers in conjunction of the Deepavali celebration recently.

PEKAWANIS is an organisation that focuses of welfare work and manages the welfare home in Shah Alam for young women who are experiencing problems, in addition to managing the dialysis centre in Klang.

Each time there is a celebration, the organisation will donate RM3,000 to be distributed to women and poor families in every constituency.
