Kajang struck by flood! Assemblywoman meets MPKj, JPS to find solution

SHAH ALAM, 30 Sept: The Assemblywoman for Kajang, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, will hold a meeting with the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and the Selangor Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID) to find a solution to flooding in the area.

In a statement, she said that she has received information from residents that some areas in Bandar Kajang experienced flash flood on Monday afternoon, September 29, following heavy rain in Kajang.

“I will hold a four-cornered meeting between the Kajang Assembly Office, the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and the Selangor Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID) to discuss the problems and short-term and long-term solutions on the issue of flash floods in Kajang.

“In addition, the Kajang Assemblyman’s Office will work with the MPKj task force unit to monitor and take proactive measures in the event of flash floods like this happening again,” she said.

Some areas, including Kajang town and Kampung Sungai Kantan, were hit by flash floods after an hour of heavy rain on Monday evening.

The heavy rain that began about 4 pm resulted in repeated flooding in the same area after a similar incident occurred 10 months ago.

She expressed appreciation to members of the council, MPKj officers and DID officer for working hard to clean areas hit by flash floods.

“Congratulations on the immediate action taken to address flash floods in Bandar Kajang,” she added.
