SHAH ALAM, 8 Sept: The Sultan of Selangor’s private secretary, Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani, said that the Sultan has received the CM candidates list of names as commanded by the Sultan of Selangor, in his letter dated August 27.
He said that so far, only PAS has complied with the Sultan’s orders by listing more than three names for consideration.
“The Sultan ordered for a list of more than two names of Chief Minister candidates is a practice/convention carried out by the Sultan of Selangor.
“It is to enable the appointment of the Chief Minister by not only looking at the majority support from the State Assembly, but also in terms of skills, experience, integrity and the capability of an Assemblyman,” said Mohammad Munir in a press statement.
Mohammad Munir said that these qualities are important to guarantee the smooth running of Selangor for the harmony of the people.
He said that the Sultan of Selangor is confident that there are many candidates in Pakatan Rakyat who have the high leadership qualities mentioned to lead the Selangor Government.
“With the acceptance of candidates received, the Sultan of Selangor will review the list of candidates and will take into account all aspects in evaluating each candidate before any decision is made.
“Given that the power to appoint the Chief Minister is at the discretion of the Sultan of Selangor, he will also look at the names of other Assemblymen from Pakatan Rakyat who are qualified, in the Sultan of Selangor’s opinion, who received the majority confidence from the Assemblymen,” he said.
