Despite 6 Exco portfolios being empty, the Selangor Government continues administration

SHAH ALAM, 20 Aug: All State Government plans and programmes will be implemented despite six committee portfolios being cleared.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Education, Higher Learning and Human Capital Development, Dr Halimah Ali, said that the State Government is now working to make the six portfolios a collective responsibility.

She said that the State Government remains committed towards the success of all programmes so that the people will continue to receive benefits.

“We will call all other Stanco (Standing Committee) members and officers of the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) every Tuesday to resolve any programmes planned so that it runs as usual.

“The four Executive Council members and officers will try our best to carry out our duties based on the plans previously prepared,” she said during a press conference at her office today.

She was asked about the survival of the State Government and the distribution of portfolios after the six Exco members were sacked after refusing to cooperate with the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

On August 11, the Sultan of Selangor consented to allow Abdul Khalid to continue his duties as the Chief Minister despite him being sacked by PKR two days earlier.

Four of the Exco members from PAS, including Halimah, choose to remain in the State Government to ensure the smooth running of the administration and existing plans.
