CM: Vote of no confidence should be interpreted at DUN session

SHAH ALAM, 14 Aug: The process of the vote of no confidence should be interpreted at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) to prove claims by the President of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, that she has the majority support of the Assemblymen to be the new Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that he is aware of the recent announcement from Wan Azizah, however stressed that it should follow correct procedures.

“I am aware of Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah’s announcement claiming that she has the majority support of the Assemblymen.

“Even so, these claims should be interpreted through the vote of no confidence at the DNS,” he said in a press statement.

Abdul Khalid said that the administration of the Selangor Government will continue as usual until the process takes place.

“This process is important because the Selangor State Government is a government that has rules, laws and a legal process that must be followed, not just by the people, but leaders and state administrators.

“All these efforts are subject to the Sultan of Selangor’s authority,” said Abdul Khalid.

Today, Wan Azizah announced that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) again has the majority at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly when two PAS Assemblymen expressed their support for her to replace Abdul Khalid.

Wan Azizah said that the PAS Assemblymen are Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) and Saari Sungib (Hulu Kelang) who expressed their support for her together with 15 Assemblymen from DAP and 13 from PKR.

This situation shows that Wan Azizah is now supported by 30 Assemblymen against Abdul Khalid who is supported by 26 Assemblymen.
