E-SPG Facilitates Online Zakat Payment

SHAH ALAM, 19 May: The E-SPG system launched by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today will facilitate the community, especially civil servants and workers in the private sector, to make their zakat payments through payroll deductions online.

The Selangor Zakat Collection Committee Member, Datuk Syed Mohd Ghazali Wafa Syed Adwam Wafa, said that the new technology is to ensure that the public fulfils their obligations to pay zakat on time.

He said that over 60 percent of zakat payments in Selangor are done through payroll deductions, with an estimate of RM66.5 million as of April 2014.

“LZS is finding space to facilitate the public to make zakat payments through various methods.

“Through this virtual technology, people will not forget to pay zakat and it will make distribution to the poor and needy easier,” he said in front of about 250 employers’ representatives at the Mesra Majikan event held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC).

Also present was the LZS Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Izam Mohamed Yusof and the General Manager of Collection, Roszy Non.
