The Paya Jaras Assemblyman’s Office Receives Positive Response from the Latest Programme by TAWAS

SHAH ALAM, 6 Apr: The Paya Jaras Assemblyman’s Office has been showered by positive response after the State Government launched the YAWAS Benevolent Fund under the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (TAWAS) on 1 March.

The Paya Jaras Assemblyman, Mohd Khairuddin Othman, also said that his office was showered by numerous questions, either in person or over the phone.

“I expected that registration for TAWAS would be robust and we will also continue to promote schemes offered by the State Government because it is in line with the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) policy for the people.

“We will not wait for the elections before offering a programme. Our services continue to run at all times, regardless if there is an election coming up or otherwise because the people have the right to enjoy it.

“Programmes such as this, we do not see it in states under Barisan Nasional (BN) or offered by the Federal Government,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini.

Claims can be made at YAWAS offices by bring along the death certificate, the SiManja card and the TAWAS savings statement if any.

On 1 March, the State Government introduces a new programme that enables the beneficiaries of Tawas participants who die before reaching the age of 18 to receive a benevolent contribution amounting to RM1,500.

Each TAWAS participant is awarded a prize of RM100 upon signing up as a member and will receive a return of RM1,00 when they reach the age of 18.

Prior to this, the State Government also established the Senior Citizen’s Scheme (SMUE) which allows beneficiaries to receive benevolent contributions amounting to RM2,500, thus helping ease the burden for funeral expenses, which is ever increasing.
