11 illegal stalls by foreign nationals seized, to solve congestion in Pandamaran

SHAH ALAM, 17 MAY: Recently, the Klang Municipal Council has successfully seized 11 stalls belonging to foreign nationals in an operation to clean up illegal premises along the morning market of Jalan Papan, Pandamaran.

The two day operation was launched following complaints and grievances by the public regarding the stalls activities which caused congestion and a bad sight especially on holidays.

In the operation, all stalls owned by foreign nationals were seized for not having a trader’s license.Some of the traders managed to escape during the raid coordinated by the Licensing Department in collaboration with the Enforcement Department.

President of Klang Municipal Council, Dato Mohammad Yacob, said the action was taken as an effort to clean up the city from activities that breach laws under the local government especially involving foreign traders and similar operations will continue.

“We do not prevent local traders from operating but they have to obtain legitimate license, while foreign nationals do not qualify to apply for license to trade.”

“MPK will continue to seize the stalls without prior notification, if foreign nationals are found to be conducting activities such as this. They shall take notice and be aware of these rules that we enforce,” he said.
