SHAH ALAM, 24 Feb: The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, advised prospective officers offered to work on a contractual basis to read and understand all terms or agreements in the letter of offer, prior to starting the job.
He said that this is in order to avoid matters from re-occurring due to misunderstanding; as recently took place.
“Each prospective holder of any position offered on a contractual basis ‘must’, and I repeat, ‘must’ read and understand all conditions or agreements in the letter of offer prior to starting work.
“Normally, among the conditions, the contract position is offered based on a particular period and employers have the right to terminate the services of contract workers before a period ends,” he said when speaking at the State Government Monthly Assembly.
Abdul Khalid hopes that state government departments or agencies which need the services of contract workers to provide information to this group in advance about the conditions of employment to avoid problems arising.
He said this when commenting on the termination issue of 22 employees of the Selangor State Development Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd (PHSB) recently, saying that there was overlapping duties among existing staff.
