CM: ‘I have promised to act transparently, for the sake of the people of Selangor’

KUALA SELANGOR, 9 Feb: The decision to terminate the contracts of 22 Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) employees was done according to a study and cannot be retracted.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, stressed that the decision was done for the sake of the people of Selangor and that he will not hesitate to show them the reason the decision was made.

“I have made a press statement that as Chief Minister, I must promise to act transparently. I have promised to safeguard the interests of Selangor and the people of this state.

“I will not hesitate to show the people that I made this decision for their sake,” he said at the Local Youth Movers (PeBT) Certificate Presentation Ceremony here at the Kuala Selangor Stadium yesterday.

Abdul Khalid said that he practices a transparent and accountable administration.

“Every decision made is based on research done by the officers on duty at PKNS. For the contract termination concept, I have asked the State Government Secretary to monitor the implementation.

“It was done so that no one would fail to receive justice from the action. However, PKNS needs to do something so that the matter will not continue,” he said.

He said this in response to calls by the Selangor Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Chairman, Azmin Ali, who wants Abdul Khalid to use PKNS as a political weapon.

Abdul Khalid said that he cannot think about statements by others and he should look at the interests of the state.

“If PKNS wants continuous success, they should follow the principles of corporate governance which has integrity and accountability.

“Therefore, the responsibility is under enactment, in fact this call has nothing to do with it. It is like asking Tun Dr Mahathir or the Prime Minister because it is not a reasonable game,” he said.
