Poor and Needy Entrepreneurs Overwhelmed to Receive LZS Contributions for Businesses

SEKINCHAN, 13 Apr: A pilot programme especially for the poor (fakir) and needy (miskin) organised by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) was well received by the group as it clearly helps them earn additional income.

Most from this group who were met during the presentation of lorries and three-wheeled motorcycles, in a ceremony at Dataran Pantai yesterday evening, expressed their happiness and gratitude towards the contribution given.

A member of this group, Mohd Haris Mohamed, 52, is of the opinion that this is the most meaningful reward in his life which enables him to generate more income to support his daily living.

The food-seller resolves to make use of the vehicle (lorry) as best possible, in addition to determining to expand his business.

“I am grateful for the assistance given because it is capable of improving our family’s economy. Now, I sell mee rebus, mee bandung and mee jawa. Perhaps after this, I will try to produce my own poduct in the form of paste,” he said.

Another recipient, Marhani Kamaruddin, 48, who also received a lorry for the sale of food and drink, thanked LZS for the contribution.

The single-mother to four children will run the business with her eldest child around the Port Klang area.

“Prior to this, I was not working and had to support four children through a benevolence fund and zakat contributions. Thankfully, after given this lorry, I am able to earn my own income.

“I hope that my food business will be well received and expands in the future,” she said.

The assistance is to expand the entrepreneur pilot programme, where people from this group will receive three-wheeled motorcycles, as well as capital and business equipment.

A total of 10 people from the poor and needy group received three-wheeled motorcycles, while 20 others were given lorries for business purposes.
