Terengganu Umno political crisis, punishment for Perak coup

SHAH ALAM, 14 May: The Terengganu Umno political unrest is punishment for the Perak coup in 2009.

The former Chief Minister of Perak, Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, said that the Umno’s political crisis in Terengganu seems to be worse compared to the state Umno and Central Umno.

“Friction among them is severe. They used to say PAS and PKR were parties that could not govern. But it looks like Umno’s crisis is far worse,” said Nizar, quoted from Keadilan Daily.

Nizar explained that what is happening in Terengganu proves the failure of the Umno President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who has not only failed to govern the country, but is unable to manage states under BN’s administration.

Previously, the Pakatan Rakyat government led by Nizar in Perak was overthrown in 2009 with the party-jumping tactic by two PKR Assemblymen; Captain (Rtd) Mohd Osman Jailu, Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and DAP Assemblyman, Hee Yit Fong.

Nizar said that Datuk Ahmad Said was stripped of his post as Terengganu Chief Minister because he was facing a crisis with his deputy, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, who is the right hand man of the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Muhyiddin Yassin.

“They have had no understanding in the past; there were clear arguments. It’s not impossible for Ahmad Said to be dropped,” added Nizar, also the Assemblyman for Changkat Jering.
