Najib does not feel shame, impossible for him to resign

SHAH ALAM, 13 May: The leadership crisis happening among Terengganu Umno members is seen as yet another leadership failure by the party’s president and also the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The Terengganu Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Chairman and Bandar Assemblyman, Azan Ismail, said that Najib should follow the footsteps of the Terengganu Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, and resign.

He said that the crisis shows how weak Najib is in his administration, so much so that it has divided a state government.

“If this was at a federal level, perhaps Najib has many assistants who will help him govern and manage a variety of things.

“But apparently, not at the state level. This is Najib’s mistake for making hurried decisions and completely ignoring the interests of the people.

“He should actually resign too, following (the footsteps of) Ahmad Said,” he told Selangor Kini today.

He was contacted to comment on yesterday’s resignation of the Terengganu Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, followed by the swearing-in ceremony by his successor, Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, in front of the Terengganu Sultan, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, at Istana Syarqiyyah in Kuala Terengganu.

Ahmad Said, also the Kijal Assemblyman, declared that he had quit Umno and said that the decision was made because he was dissatisfied that the change of Chief Minister was done a few days before his daughter’s wedding, which will take place on May 17.

Elaborating, Azan however predicts that Najib will not follow Ahmad Said’s move to resign from office, and will instead continue to defend all his posts.

“If a ship sank in Korea, its Prime Minister resigns a few days after the incident because of a strong sense of responsibility.

“In Malaysia, a plane disappeared but the Prime Minister shamelessly will not let go of his post, let alone in Terengganu. But there is nothing to be surprised about, he was relaxed even after Altantuya died,” he said.

After Ahmad Said quit Umno, Azan confirmed that five other state Assemblymen from Umno also declared the same and became independents. These Assemblymen are Ghazali Taib (Ajil), Roslee Daud (Bukit Besi), Datuk Mohd Jidin Shafie (Permaisuri), ROsli Othman (Kemasik) and Nawi Mohamad (Hulu Besut).

The latest development in Terengganu is Barisan Nasional (BN) only has the minority with 11 seats, while Pakatan Rakyat (PR) remains with 15 seats.
