The PKR Disciplinary Board Chairman, Datuk Dr Tan Kee Kwong, said that Manikavasagam was suspended for violating Article B.7 of the Election Code, where ‘Any dispute regarding the party election should not be brought to the media or made public’.

“He made a press statement accusing the Deputy President candidate, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, of practicing money politics for the election at the Kuala Selangor branch,” said Dr Kee Kwong in a press statement issued today.

Manikavasagam allegedly made a press statement which was broadcast on Buletin Utama TV3 and Berita Perdana TV1 on May 11.

The meeting which was also attended by the PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim and the others, suspended Mustapha Mohd Talib’s membership for threatening to terminate Manikavasagam’s service as the Coordinator of the Bukit Melawati constituency.

Also suspended until the completion of investigations are Bobinath a/l Veloo from the Kuala Selangor branch, Monniza @ Sarimah Abdul Ghani (Kapar), Md Yusop Kamaruddin (Pasir Salak) and Ahmad Jufliz Datuk Faiza (Setia Wangsa).

All of them made press statements except for Md Yusop, who allegedly criticised the Central Election Committee (CEC) on his Facebook page.

Action on four of them was taken after finding that they were in violation of Action B.7 of the Election Code by publicising rifts within the party to the public.

Meanwhile, the same action was taken on Gunasekaran a/l Kuppan under Article B.6 of the Election Code after he and a few supporters aggressively barged into the polling hall at the Hulu Selangor branch and stopped the counting process.

Also penalised under Article B.6 of the Election Code was Noor Azman Samsuri from Tanjung Karang because he was involved in fraud concerning the signature of Basri Kasnon for his candidacy for branch Chief.
