Haze: UNISEL suspends operations today

SHAH ALAM, 28 Sept: Following the severe haze that hit the country, particularly the Klang Valley, the University of Selangor (UNISEL) decided to suspend operation today.

The UNISEL Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Anuar Ahmad, said that however the operations suspension does not involved the Bestari Jaya campus.

“Operations are suspended today and will reopen on September 29, 2015.

“All information on other suspension will be notified from time to time by the university,” he said in a press statement.

In addition to UNISEL, the Mara University of Technology (UiTM) also suspended lecture schedules at all its branches in Selangor today following the Air Pollution Index (API) that recorded very unhealthy levels on Sunday.

According to the Department of Environment on Sunday, at 2 pm, three areas recorded very unhealthy API readings compared to five at 11 am.

Shah Alam recorded the highest API reading at 239, followed by Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (228) and Port Klang (215).
