KAJANG, 30 June: The opportunity to receive a donation from the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, is like a beautiful dream for the recipients.
Convert, Siti Norhidayah Abdullah, 17, dais that she was excited and nervous to meet Sultan Sharafuddin who has only been seen in the media.
“I never thought I would meet him. I felt like it was a dream; unspeakable joy.
“Today’s experience will be remembered for life,” said Siti who began to embrace Islam since she was 8 years old with her mother and two other siblings.
She was among the 299 recipients at the ceremony at the Selangor Islamic University College (KUIS) yesterday.
A total of 204 convert students and 95 new converts received a contribution worth RM500 each.
Meanwhile, KUIS Syariah student, Nadia Syafikah Abdul Rahim, 19, is determined to keep the contribution for future use.
“This is the second time I am receiving this contribution. As before, I would rather save it in the bank.
“I will not simply spend it. It will be used for necessary things, especially for my studies because I am thankful,” said the student from Rawang.
