SHAH ALAM, 5 Apr: More than 1,500 participants from across the country and of all ages participated in the Shah Alam ENduride 2015 at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam, this morning.
Their mental and physical endurance was tested by the 130 kilometre cycling programme across several districts such as Gombak and Kuala Selangor, as well as routes around Shah Alam, Bukit Jelutong and Sungai Buloh.
“This event is an ongoing effort by MBSA to make Shah Alam a sustainable, green and vibrant city where the community makes sporting activities a culture and lifestyle,” according to the press statement from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Public Relations Department.
The organisation of this programme is the second for MBSA in collaboration with cycling event organiser, Pedal Explorer.
“Not only does it aim to provide world-class sports facilities such as the Shah Alam Indoor Stadium and so on, but MBSA is also willing to organise world-class sporting activities,” according to the statement.
Participants who successfully finished the event within the prescribed time and is following the Enduride exploration series 2015, and collected the most points, will receive a certificate of recognition and a trophy with the title ‘Endurider 2015’.
Shah Alam Enduride is putting up eight categories including Men’s Veteran (56 years and above), Men’s Masters (36 to 45 years), Men’s Senior Masters (46 to 55 years), Men’s Open (35 and below), Women’s Masters (36 and above), Women’s Open (35 and below), Men’s Junior (below 18) and the Best Overall Team Cup.
The flag off was carried out by the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, who also cycled 18.5 kilometres with the MBSA Department Directors, agency representatives and sponsors.
