AMPANG, 6 Feb: The Datum Jelatek project will continue with the state government not entertaining objections that are racist and extremist.
The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the protest shown by the group of residents against the construction of the luxury condominium was masterminded by a Malay pressure group to spark racial tension.
“The narrow racial sentiment is being played by Umno and Perkasa (in the Datum Jelatek project issue).
“I will not tolerate it and I am giving a message to the people of Selangor and Malaysia that there is no racism, extremism and fanaticism,” he said during a press conference at the Flamingo Hotel in Ampang today.
He said that the state government is prepared to accept opposition but will not entertain any objections that are racist in nature.
Mohamed Azmin said that he will meet with all parties if there are objections, but the objections must not be racist in nature.
“Do not play the racial and religious sentiments because it will not lead to development,” he said.
He said that he had met with the locals several times, including residents’ representatives, as well as mosques and suraus, to discuss the project.
Mohamed Azmin said that the priority is to build housing for the people who need it and he will defend development for the people.
Before the officiating the closing of the 12th International Youth Gathering, that was attended by 16 countries, Mohamed Azmin said that parties that deliberately use the name of Islam despite various inverse activities will eventually adversely affect the image of Islam in the eyes of the world community as traitors to Islam.
The 12th International Youth Gathering was attended by youth from Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Sri Langka, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia.
