BATU CAVES, 3 Feb: The 125th Thaipusam celebration that took place at the Batu Malai Sri Subramaniar Temple was disrupted after an almost 20-minute electricity outage.
This unforeseen event happened at 8.55 pm before the Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, delivered his speech.
However, the Thaipusam celebration continued at the stage outside the entrance of the temple below the Middle Ring Road Two (MRR2).

“It was beyond our power, but I remain grateful to the organisers.
“This is a technical problem and it was indeed unexpected,” he said during a press conference after the event.
Thousands of Hindus crowded to celebrate Thaipusam with the help of floodlights that were shined directly at the Batu Caves Temple steps.
The Thaipusam celebration is being celebrated for the 125th time by Hindus this year.
The festival is to celebrate the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a Vel “spear” so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadman.
Devotees who have made a vow will fast for 48 days without eating meat.
In addition, some devotees will carry the kavadi to pay their debt, in addition to carrying a pot of milk to be poured on Lord Murugan’s statue.
