RM2.5 million to upgrade Selayang Hot Springs

SELAYANG, 13 Dec: The Selayang Hot Springs will be receiving a facelift through the process of upgrading and improvement by the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) starting from February next year.

The Exco for Health, Welfare, Women’s Affairs and Family Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that RM2.5 million has been allocated for that purpose. She said that the upgrading and improvement will take about a year and a half.

“It is time for MPS to implement improvements to ensure that the hot springs can be a popular tourist attracting in Selangor.

“My suggestion is for MPS to increase, expand or build other larger hot springs, in addition to placing an attractive landscape because it is a state asset that needs to be taken care of well and to be made more natural,” she said when launching the MPS Selayang Hot Springs Carnival 2014 today,

In the meantime, Daroyah, who is also the Sementa Assemblyman, said that the organisation of the carnival should be emulated by other local authorities to attract more visitors, especially local people, to enjoy the hot springs.

In addition to recreational purposes, she also encouraged visitors to enjoy the nutritional values and benefit from the hot springs which is able to treat a variety of illnesses including skin disorders, migraine and so on.

“Hopefully, visitors will benefit from the facilities that have been built, developed and upgraded for the purpose of sport, leisure and recreation for health.

“The state government’s hope if for MPS to make this carnival an annual event and continue to improve the promotion of the hot springs to visitors,” she added.
