Opposition praises Selangor Kini’s openness in reporting

SHAH ALAM, 3 Dec: The openness of Selangor Kini in delivering reports and publishing news transparently from the opposition was praised by Sulaiman Abdul Razak (BN-Permatang).

He said that as the official newspaper, Selangor Kini should play its role without bias to all parties because the state’s media operations are funded by the people’s money.

“The Selangor Kini publishing uses the people’s money, so naturally all elected representatives should have a place, space and opportunity in this newspaper. Not just for government (Pakatan Rakyat) Assemblymen.

“This is an effort that is fair and commendable. This openness is welcomed and should have been practiced since before,” he told Selangor Kini when met at the Annex Building Lobby today.

He added that such an approach should have been done since the beginning of Selangor Kini’s publishing and hopefully, this positive effort will last to benefit the people who read it.

“I hope that space for Assemblymen from the Opposition will not only focus on controversial sensational issues only, but also space for criticism and also constructive issues to be delivered to the people,” he said.

The Selangor government’s official news paper, Selangor Kini, which is under Pakatan Rakyat upholds media freedom to a better level compared to the state newspaper during the reign of Umno-BN which used the name Era Jaya.

Selangor Kini is published to communicate the state government’s policies and programmes to improve the enlightenment of the people.

Adhering to principles of media and journalistic professionalism, Selangor Kini does not only tell the story of one side, but also provides coverage to the opposition which always criticises the state government.
