MPK should be more proactive in solving the residents’ problems

KLANG, 12 Nov: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) should immediately resolve the complaints and problems of the residents in Bandar Putera and the whole of Zone N50.

Council member Azmizam Zaman Hurim said that the matter complained by the residents is about basic services that all local authorities should do and resolve.

He said that MPK cannot be angry and avoid it if the people complain, and instead they should find a solution to satisfy the assessment taxpayers.

“MPK should also act more proactively. Do not wait for new complaints before resolving it.

“MPK should meet with residents more often to see and hear for themselves the problems more closely. What happened to the ‘MPK is Caring’ campaigh,” said Azmizam in a dialogue with the residents of Bandar Putera and MPK recently.

Azmizam said that among the problems complained by the residents of Bandar Putera, which is a Housing Park occupied since 2004, is the problem of flood and water receding slowly causing it to enter homes and water collecting on the road.

He said that some houses have receded by a foot and the irrigation and drainage is clogged due to being poorly maintained and cleaned.

“PK also needs to do actual work each time and treat all residents fairly. MPK should not only do and act when they know a leader is conducting fieldwork,” he said.

He said that residents should also hold regular gotong-royong programmes every three months, mainly to solve the bulk waste and garden waste problem.

“Cleanliness is a shared responsibility and not just the responsibility of MPK. In fact, the attitude of residents who like littering also contributes to the cleanliness problem in Klang,” he said.
